Participation of Doctor's Formulas at the 28th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB)

Doctors Formulas is the first Greek company to publish the research of its liposomal dietary supplements at a conference of global interest.

The research was conducted at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under the supervision of Prof. Demetzos Konstantinos.

The ESB 2017 conference combines all major biomaterial science disciplines and allows participants to exchange knowledge and discuss recent developments on biomaterial issues.

This research will be presented at the conference by the scientific advisor of the company and award winning scientist of the year 2016 Mrs Natassa Pippa.

The purpose of this investigation is to study and evaluate the physico-chemical characteristics of different liposomal formulations of vitamins and food supplements, which were designed and produced based on liposomal technology in different dispersion media mimicking the physiological conditions of gastrointestinal track.

This study is a follow-up to our previous research on the physicochemical characteristics of Doctor's Formulas liposomal supplements.

Liposomes have many advantages because they can protect the active substance from oxidation and degradation in acid pH of the stomach, increase absorption and bioavailability compared to free and other conventional pharmaceutical carriers (i.e., tablets, suspension and capsules).

The liposomal carrier has been found to be effective for administration of the active substances through the stomach, protecting the encapsulated active substance from degradation, oxidation and / or enzyme attack.

Finally, this is an evidence of excellence in the science of these liposomal nutraceuticals, revealing their added value as food supplements
